Fiji has ranked 3rd among US travellers who searched for the first trip overseas they could take after the COVID-19 pandemic ends.

US-based company, InsureMyTrip reviewed data using Google search trends to find out which destinations Americans planned on visiting once restrictions were lifted.

“Stay-at-home orders may have slowed travel for the time being but it clearly doesn’t stop us dreaming about our next trip,” said InsureMyTrip.

Fiji has come in 3rd with about 9000 searches during the month of April.

The most searched destination was the Maldives which received 18,100 searches and Greece coming in second on the list with 14,800 searches.

“While it remains an expensive option, it makes sense that many people are dreaming of tropical islands with pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters,” the survey found.

InsureMyTrip looked at search volume during April for the term “vacation” within Google keyword planner to obtain the data.

“Travellers are set to make a luxurious tropical vacation their priority once restrictions are lifted.”
