MINISTER for Defence and National Security, Inia Seruiratu says when it comes to the recruitment of police officers every year, the force already has a strategic development plan.

Mr Seruiratu said the plan was up to 2050.

“After every year, we have strategic development initiatives that is consistent with this plan,” Mr Seruiratu said.

“We definitely need to look at the security and safety of our people because this is important for our development as well.

“As the economy grows, we need to attract investors and at the same time look after our people. Therefore, the role the force plays is very important for us as we prepare for the future. I am very privileged to see the force already implementing some of the changes that have been approved by the Government.”

He said the development of the force had started and there were a lot of recruits being trained with the regularisation of those that were in the special constabulary to be taken in as regular officers.
