THREE officers from the People’s Republic of China’s Ministry of Public Security have completed their six-month attachment with the Fiji Police Force(FPF) and were farewelled late last week.
The three-member team was led by Hu Wenyan, deputy director of the Research Office of the Command Centre, Shandong Public Security Bureau, Li Jun, deputy chief 2nd Brigade of the Special Police Detachment, Public Security Bureau of Zibo City, Shandong Province and Wang Jun Sergeant, 2nd Brigade, Criminal Investigation Department, Public security Bureau of Yantai City, Shandong Province.
They have been on attachment with the Fiji Police Force since June this year.
During the farewell, Deputy Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu acknowledged their contribution and sharing their knowledge in their respective fields.
“The working relationship we have with the Ministry of Public Security has aided our work tremendously and we are truly appreciative of the sacrifice you have all made to be away from your families for over six months,” Mr Tudravu said.
According to the statement, the Chinese officers spent time at various units and had travelled throughout the four policing divisions.
Speaking on behalf of the three officers, Ms Hu acknowledged the Fijian Government and the Fiji Police Force for being wonderful hosts.
“We have had many wonderful experiences from interacting with Fijian police officers and we have been welcomed like family and we will treasure our time in Fiji and the friendships made,” said Ms Hu.
The three officers flew out of the country at the weekend. The attachment program is the outcome of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Fiji Police Force and the Ministry of Public Security focusing on people to people exchange programs enhancing police cooperation between the two institutions.
