Fiji Police await NFA fire report

POLICE are awaiting a report from the National Fire Authority (NFA) of a fire in Natabua, Lautoka, where the victims of the blaze are claiming arson.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said the report would determine if charges would be laid against the suspect.

“Right now we are still waiting for the NFA report on whether it was a case of arson or not,” she said.

The fire which was reported on March 9 by the family of four destroyed a three bedroom house with an estimated cost of $30,000.

The blaze also destroyed belongings of two university students who were tenants at the home.

Meanwhile, a post-mortem examination was carried out on the three people who perished when their home was destroyed by a fire in Navakai, Nadi last week.

Ms Naisoro said the post-morten examination was carried out but they would not be releasing details of the tests. She said investigations continued into the fire.
