The implementation of the proposed Vodo app by the Land Transport Authority should be suspended for another five years, says Nasinu Taxi Association president Shiva Shankaran.

He said Fiji was not ready for the proposed app as people were still trying to recover from the impact of COVID-19.

“From what we have gathered from the terms of reference of this new application, we saw that once we are required to install it, taxi operators will have to make three payments,” he said.

“How can we make those three payments when a lot of us are still trying to get by with the little money we are earning?

“We don’t have a lot of customers at this point in time because of what has happened with the pandemic.

“That is why the Nasinu Taxi Association and its members are calling on LTA to please suspend the implementation of this Vodo application for at least another five years.

This is not the right time to be introducing such a new and advanced system.”
