Fiji Meteorology, USP MOU with Solicitor General

Update: 3:47PM FIJI Meteorology Service (FMS) is currently working on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of the South Pacific to set up a Regional Training Centre.
This was revealed today at the Pacific Meteorology Council by Fijian
Director of Meteorology Services, Ravind Kumar.
Presenting Fiji’s country report, Mr Kumar said the MOU was now with the
Solicitor General’s office for vetting. This is in addition to the Tropical
Meteorology Courses already
However, FMS will still need assistance from other relevant institutions
that can provide professional courses on Meteorology.
“We will need assistance in institutionsthat run Professional Meteorology course,
to train our new generation of .;So we will mostly rely on Australia, New
Zealand and Philippines, or even India for Professional Meteorology
training,” Mr Kumar said.
