THE Fiji Mediation Centre will be making submissions on the UN Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation next month.

This has been confirmed by the centre’s chairwoman, Jenny Seeto, who also said the submissions would be made before the Parliament Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence.

She said there was a need for Fiji to ratify the convention so that it could enable them to deal with disputes in other jurisdiction through mediation.

The convention provides the facilitation of international trade and promotes mediation as an alternative and effective method of resolving international commercial disputes.
