THE Oceania National Olympic Committee hosted the Athletes Forum at the Pearl Resort in Pacific Harbour during the weekend to discuss on the topics to assist athletes in many ways in their career.
The FASANOC Athletes Commission chairperson Inoke Niubalavu said the athletes would benefit from the forum.
“The discussions were based on things which the athletes did not know about including the funding solidarity as the funding are available every four years in terms for them to qualify for the Olympics.
“Also the education as how the athletes can better understand about themselves,” he said.
“In the region we do not get a lot of training so it was one of the training to know about yourself and to learn and gather as much information and go back to their own countries and pass it on their athletes.”
The three-day forum was attended by Niubalavu, Inia Korowale from Fiji Beach Volleyball together with six other athletes from FASANOC’s Voice of the Athletes and 18 FASANOC’s Stop Champions and Fiji Paralympic table tennis player Mere Rodan was also one of the host country delegate.
“The theme for this year was Your Journey to Excellence,” he added.
The forum ended yesterday.
