FIJI Football Association says players could face heavy penalties and fines if they do not discipline themselves on the field.
This follows recent incidents where some players allegedly use abusive and rude remarks on match officials.
Fiji FA competitions manager Amitesh Pal said this would be applied to all players — from club to international level and the Courts IDC, Vodafone Fiji FACT and Inkk Battle of the Giants.
His comments were made in response to some queries raised by our sports team because of some incidents that occurred during the playoff game between Rakiraki and Bua.
The game saw a Bua player hurled insults and threats during the course of the game which resulted in him receiving a red card.
“Players should practice discipline also.
“We have made changes to the laws of football and we have started to apply those things,” Pal said.
He said they had standard charges for indisciplined players.
“For example Gerard Voi of Nadroga who was red-carded in the IDC for using abusive language towards the referee and he was given a four-match suspension and a $300 fine.”
He said the severity of suspension depended on the severity of the offence.
