Fiji Football Association has revealed that negotiations were underway with the two local television stations to telecast live Digicel Premier League matches.

Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf said they had been discussing the possibility of showing matches on television for fans after COVID-19 complications slapped more sanctions on Fijian sports.

“If we strike the deal then we can telecast live stream of matches,” Yusuf said.

“These are the things that we will have to work out and we will have to compensate the hosting team for the loss of income.”

He said the senior divisions matches would have live telecasts of four teams on Viti Levu and six teams from the North.

“On Viti Levu, those teams will play three rounds and Vanua Levu will still play two rounds of home and away matches and the winners from both divisions will have a playoff.

“Whoever wins the senior league will get automatic promotion to the premier division in 2023.”

Fiji FA has also announced the dates of its major tournaments this year.

The Fiji FACT will be held from May 25-27 at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, the Battle of the Giants on the third week of August at Churchill Park, Lautoka and the Courts Inter-District Championship during the Fiji Day weekend in October at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
