Fiji embassy, PhysioNet UK supply mobility equipment for people with spinal injuries

THE High Commission of Fiji in London in partnership with the PhysioNet UK has recently facilitated the shipment of the mobility and physio equipment to reach out to those living with spinal injuries in Fiji.

Fiji’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Jitoko Tikolevu joined Andrew Jones, the UK Minister responsible for Transport, along with the members of the PhysioNet as well the Fijian soldiers based in Catterick and Newcastle during the preparation and loading of the 13th shipment of a 40 feet container, which is expected to arrive in Fiji by next month.

In availing the much-needed support towards this initiative, Mr Tikolevu said that such collaboration was reflective of the unique people-to-people relationship between Fiji and UK.

PhysioNet UK has been working collaboratively to provide physiotherapy and mobility equipment for those living with physical impairment in developing countries around the world, including Eastern Europe, Africa, Asia and the Pacific.

Meanwhile, the Spinal Injury Association of Fiji executive director Joshko Wakaniyasi expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the relevant agencies for their tremendous support in facilitating this timely assistance directed towards improving the welfare and well-being of persons living with disability in Fiji.
