Fiji Corrections Service mark 144 years of service

THE Fiji Corrections Service today celebrated Corrections Day celebrating its 144 years of service.

Chief guest at the celebration, the permanent secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Iowane Naivalurua – who introduced the Yellow Ribbon project within FCS – said the corrections service had gone through many difficulties in the past.

“You have gone through many challenges yet where we are right now is a result of women and men who have given their lives and families for the call of service,” Mr Naivalurua said.

The FCS also conducted a skill competition within the week and gave eight awards to both teams and individuals who gave their best during the competition.

Best Team in Theory– National Headquarters Mens Team

Best Team in Obstacle – Mens Cateogry: Pre-Release Center

Best Team in Obstacle – Women’s Category: Lautoka Womens Corrections Center

Best Individual in Theory – Tomasi Kubunavanua of the NHQ Mens Team

Best Individual in Obstacle: Mens Category – Sanaila Matakai of Ba Corrections Center

Best Individual in Obstacle: Womens Category – Vaiti Waqatabu of NHQ Women’s

Fastest Time in Obstacle – Taveuni Corrections Center with a time of 58 minutes

Overall Winner of the Corrections Skills Competition – NHQ Men’s Team with 382 points
