In support of Fiji’s ongoing response to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, a new batch of personal protective equipment (PPEs) was handed over recently to Commissioner Western Mesake Ledua.
The Fiji-China Friendship Association (FCFA) was acknowledged for its timely assistance that would benefit frontline workers and civil servants in the Western Division.
FCFA president Fangfang Jamandas said the initiative was a reflection of the growing cooperation under the framework of the China-Fiji comprehensive strategic partnership.
Mrs Jamandas said the assistance was provided in appreciation of Fiji’s progressive steps to revive economic activities and employment, and the reopening of Fiji’s international borders.
FCFA affirmed its commitment to provide new opportunities for local exchanges between the two countries to deepen the levels of engagement between the two countries.
The PPEs consist of 50,000 disposable facemasks, 100 sets of protective gowns, 100 pairs of protective goggles, and 10 infrared thermometres – and it is being mobilised by the FCFA, the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), and the China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development (CFFPD).
