THE Employment Ministry will effectively repatriate the deceased bodies of Fijians working on foreign fishing vessels if Government ratifies the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of all Migrant Workers and Members of their Families.
This was highlighted by the Employment ministry deputy secretary Puamau Sowane while making submissions on the Convention before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence in Suva on April 16.
He said they had had to deal with a similar situation a few years ago when a Fijian working on a foreign fishing vessel had died in Panama and had lost communication with his family.
