THE Fiji Baseball & Softball Association (FBSA) U12 and U15 players had the honour and privilege to participate in a week-long baseball clinic conducted by a former Japanese professional baseball player, Atsushi Kita.

According to a press statement from the association, Kita visited Fiji from December 16-23 as part of a program of promoting and assisting in the development of baseball overseas initiated by ‘Giant Academy’, an institution belonging to one of the most famous and leading Japanese professional baseball team Yomiuri Giants.

In order to expand the value of baseball, the Yomiuri Giants has established an institution specialised in the introduction and promotion of baseball to Japanese young generations as well as youths in baseball-developing countries.

Kita’s visit was made possible with the collaboration of the Giants Academy and JICA, based on a MOU signed in 2015 aimed at baseball promotion in preparation for Tokyo Olympic 2020.
