PRESIDENT Major General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote opened the 47th Fiji Institute of Accountants Congress at Shangri-la’s Fijian Resort this morning.

He said every Fijian was only too aware of the many challenges Fiji faced today.

President Konrote said the country was at a critical crossroad and the decisions made today would shape the future it would face.

He said the challenges included climate change, urbanisation and health care among others.

He said it was not just the Government’s responsibility but the responsibility of every Fijian.

President Konrote said the theme of the Congress ‘prioritising humanity through innovative solutions’ was timely in discussing issues to meet the challenges.

The two-day FIA Congress is sponsored by Vodafone and Westpac.
