FIJI Airways Drua captain Mosese Voka is ready to steer his team to victory against Melbourne Rising at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori this afternoon.

The Yasawa islander has plans of successfully navigating his men around the visiting Australians in their first match of the 2018 National Rugby Championship. Voka, who took over the skipper’s rein from injured John Stewart last year, said he would not let the country down.

“Chosen as a captain was not easy for me because there are responsibilities on my shoulder to carry out,” Voka said. “But, this will not stop me from carrying out my role effectively.

“We are ready to play our first match after few weeks of working in preparing for this tournament.

“It will be a tough match against Melbourne Rising, but it will not change the game plan of winning our first match on our home soil.”

Voka said it would be an exciting game because they would play here at home and the home support would boost their chances of winning.

“I’m so proud that I am going to lead these men. It will be an exciting match because playing in front our home crowd is a great advantage for us. It will help us improve in the way we play. Melbourne Rising will come out strongly this time since we beat them last year on their home ground. We are ready for the challenge.”

Meanwhile, Voka has called on the people of Fiji to support the team today.
