Fiji Airways Boeing 737 aircraft returns to Nadi after engine issue

Listen to this article:

A FIJI Airways Boeing 737 aircraft was forced to turn around after it developed issues with an engine shortly after take-off from Nadi International Airport this morning.

An airline spokesperson said the engine was shut down as a precautionary measure and the flight landed safely.

“Our Nadi-Brisbane flight FJ921 operated by Miami Air experienced an engine issue after take-off,” the spokesperson said.

“As per procedure, the air crew shut the engine down and returned the aircraft to Nadi. The flight landed without any issues.

“As a result of the mechanical issue with the engine, our Nadi-Brisbane and the return Brisbane-Nadi service (FJ920) have been cancelled.

“All affected guests will be re-routed on other services, and Fiji Airways apologises to any disruption to their travel plans.”

The national carrier did not respond to queries about whether the issue would impact on other flights and whether affected passengers would be accommodated in Nadi by Fiji Airways.
