Fiji Airways announced today major sports sponsorships for next year – which include the Melbourne Storm, Kaiviti Silktails, LA Galaxy and an increase in sponsorship for Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) and the Fijian Drua.

In a press statement, the national carrier said the new deal with the Storm would result in the first ever NRL match to be hosted in Fiji next year.
“2024 will see us enter into new sponsorships and partnerships that capture audiences not only in our key markets but globally,” the airline said.
“The airline is foraying into rugby league with its first partnership with a top National Rugby League (NRL) team, the Melbourne Storm.
“Through this partnership with the Storm, Fiji Airways has been able to secure the first ever NRL match to be hosted in Fiji with the Melbourne Storm in 2024.
“Fiji Airways’ ventures into the NRL don’t end there. We are the official partner for the NRL Vegas Round in February 2024 where four NRL teams will be competing in a double header at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.”
“We want to gain new audiences, leverage all our partnerships to generate more exposure for the airline and use the teams’ fan bases to build reach and loyalty for Fiji Airways.” said managing director and CEO Andre Viljoen.
“The Fiji based Kaiviti Silktails which compete in the New South Wales Rugby Leagues’ Ron Massey Cup is also being welcomed into our vuvale and will now be known as the Fiji Airways Kaiviti Silktails. We
are proud to support them through the new season and beyond.
“We are substantially increasing our sponsorship with the Fiji Rugby Union in 2024.”

Over the years the national airline has played a major role in the development and growth of rugby in Fiji across both the men’s and women’s 7s and 15s games.

“Our long existing partnership will be even more extensive in 2024. We will be standing with our men’s and wome’ns 7s teams as they gear up to win Gold at the Olympics in 2024.”
The 2024 Super Rugby season will also see Fiji Airways increasing and extending its sponsorship of the Fijian Drua, which has been the breakthrough team this year in the Super Rugby competition. Not only
will the company be one of the major sponsors, they will also be the official airline of the Drua.
Lastly, in its largest soccer partnership ever, the company has launched a wide-ranging multi-year sponsorship with the LA Galaxy, a five-time Major League Soccer (MLS) Cup Champion in the United
States.
“The U.S. is set to host the 2024 Copa América, the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, and the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place in Los Angeles putting an international spotlight on the region’s soccer
community with millions of viewers and visitors from around the world.
“With daily flights between Nadi and Los Angeles, this partnership will enable us to broaden our presence in Los Angeles, capture more market share and increase visitor arrivals for Fiji’s tourism sector.”
Fiji Airways said in order to capitalize on the sponsorships, the airline will also introduce packages and promotions with exclusive airfares, holiday packages and fan experiences.
An integral part of the plans for 2024 are to revive many of the company’s community outreach programmes such as rugby, netball and other sports clinics.
