FIJIAN Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says Fiji acknowledges the good efforts made by the Commonwealth Secretariat to have climate change mitigation, adaptation and resilience widely discussed in their respective forums with member countries.

This was among other important issues discussed during a bilateral meeting with the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Secretariat, Baroness Patricia Scotland, in London yesterday.

“Climate change can no longer remain a mere topic of discussion. It needs decisive and immediate action from everyone,” Mr Bainimarama said.

With the annual UN climate meetings presently underway at the COP 25 in Madrid, Spain, he said it was equally important for every nation to continue to raise concerns about this ‘climate emergency’ and to never give up on any opportunity to take deep and decisive action.

At the same time, the head of Government also thanked the Secretariat for supporting the Bougainville referendum which was about to be completed.
