Fiji 7s team sets target

THE Fiji 7s team is committed to getting better in the 2019-2020 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

After a slow in the first leg in Dubai and Cape Town, Fiji, the defending champion is placed in sixth position with 24 points behind Argentina (24 points), England (24 points), France (29 points) and joint leaders South Africa and New Zealand with 41 points each.

Fiji coach Gareth Baber said they had a hard look at themselves after the first two tournaments. Baber said they knew they are a good side based on what they achieved last season.

“But last year is last year and what we need is to match that by raising our quality,” he said.

“What we do obviously when leaving our Fijian shores is always tough for us. But we know that we have to go and represent to the best of our ability as ambassadors around the world and we get the opportunity to do that in New Zealand this weekend.”
