Congratulations to Baber and the 7s warriors for the consistency in the Hong Kong 7s and the silver medal in the 2018 Commonwealth Games. We have defied the odds by sending one team to both the 7s tournaments, a feat that seemed ambitious by other national teams.

Sevens rugby has become an Olympic sport and has grabbed the attention of non-rugby nations, resulting in millions of dollars invested in the sport. The Fiji rugby 7s brand is Fiji’s greatest advertising and mobile billboard that is witnessed by millions of viewers all over the word.

The Government of Fiji has invested millions of dollars in a golf tournament and the hosting of a Super Rugby match with the notion of promoting Fiji as a tourist hub.

I would humbly request our Government leaders if they could just invest a few millions of dollars into our Fiji rugby 7s brand by building an international training facility, the development of the sport among aspiring males and females and lucrative contracts for both the men’s and women’s teams.

In this professional era I believe our stars are still playing as amateurs.

While we are still at the top let us continue to invest in the sport that stops our nation, because other nations are catching up.

Go Fiji go.
