STUDENTS and parents of Waiqanake District School were today reminded that the fight against drugs begins at home.

Officiating at the commemoration of Early Childhood Week and International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT) this morning, Assistant Minister for Employment, Productivity and Employment Relations Alipate Nagata also reminded students to adopt and abide by the good values they were taught at home.

“The same eagerness should be adopted by parents in teaching children important values that will carry them through life,” Mr Nagata said.

“Early intervention is a must and teachers play an important role.”

The theme for this week’s Early Childhood Week is ‘Holistic and Inclusive Early Childhood Care and Education – last a lifetime’.

The theme for International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT) Drug awareness week is ‘Healthy Child, Protective Family, Safer School Better Fiji’.
