THE Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) has been given until July 22 to file submissions in the case involving Suva lawyer Aseri Vakaloloma and businessman Benjamin Padarath.
The case was called before judge Justice Riyaz Hamza.
Both men were given suspended sentence by the Suva Magistrates Court last August.
Vakaloloma was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, suspended for two years.
Padarath was sentenced to 14 months imprisonment, suspended for two years.
The duo were charged by FICAC with a count each of forgery. Both men forged the Articles of Association of BECP Engineering Construction (Fiji) Ltd with a false page 27 by altering the subscription for Adishwar Padarath and Voreqe Bainimarama.
The incident occurred between October 14, 2009 and December 31, 2009.
In court yesterday, FICAC lawyer Rashmi Aslam said they needed more time to file submissions.
Mr Vakaloloma is appealing his conviction and sentence and FICAC is appealing the sentence of the two men because the sentence given was too lenient. The case has been adjourned to September 18.
