THE 2014 TFL Sugar Festival ended with the usual pomp and celebrations at Lautoka’s Churchill Park yesterday with thousands converging onto the carnival ground to mark the end of the week-long event.
An atmosphere of joy and festivity was evident as people enjoyed the bargain, entertainment and fun rides at the festival.
Sugar Festival Association vice president Pusp Raj said thousands of people always looked forward to participating at the much awaited festival of the West and to take advantage of its activities.
He said the festival was a major drawcard for the people of Lautoka City with many travelling from as far as Suva to be part of the festival.
“This week has been very tiring but it has been worth it especially seeing the amount of people that turned up each night,” he said.
“For Priscilla Night, I think we had a record turnout and I believe we would have similar numbers during crowning night.”
