Fijians are encouraged to take advantage of a snap voter registration drive scheduled for this weekend.

Teams from the Fijian Elections Office (FEO) will be based in about 23 locations all over the country.

At least 11 hotspots will be open in the Central Division, five in the Northern Division and seven in the Western Division.

Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem said the times and schedules for the opening of the hotspots would be published in the newspaper and on the FEO website.

“Anybody who has just turned 18 can still register to vote in the general election and all they have to do is visit one of these hotspot areas with their birth certificates and an already registered adult, preferably your parents, who can verify you.”

Mr Saneem said as at October 2, FEO had registered about 691,824 voters.

Meanwhile, 46 media personnel have received their accreditation from the Fijian Elections Office (FEO) to cover the upcoming election.

During a media briefing yesterday, Mr Saneem said these personnel were from five different organisations.
