THE Fijian Elections Office will completely close the updating of voter details and new registrations once the writ of elections is announced.

And the Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem has again pleaded with those who have yet to update their voter details to do so as soon as possible.

“We will be based in various hot spots in the country to enable voters to update their voter details, it is highly likely that this might be the last weekend to update your details,” he said.

“If the writ is issued we will close updating of details and new registrations completely so if you haven’t updated this is our final push.

“Last minute would be very short notice and voters will then have to rush to get their details updated. He said presently there were 50 places around the country that voters could access for updating their details.

Mr Saneem said it was also important to update voters details so that people know their polling venue.

“You need to get your details updated so that you are at the right polling venue, we don’t want a situation where you haven’t updated your details and come election date you cannot cast your votes.”

Mr Saneem is also urging members of the public to notify the Fijian Elections Office if a member of their family has died.

“Please let us know if someone in your family has passed away because it is very important to keep the roll as current as possible.”
