The Fiji College of General Practitioners held its 28th annual general conference at the Warwick Fiji Resort and Spa in Nadroga yesterday.

General practitioner, Doctor Shanita Sen said due to the COVID-19 pandemic they were not able to conduct the conference for two years.

She said they would have speakers from overseas at the event such as the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners president – Doctor Karen Price.

“We are going to look at the development of education for the general practitioners where they will be able to attain higher qualifications in general practice,” Dr Sen said.

She said general practitioners were roped on board the fight against COVID-19.

“We were very happy to offer our services and we have promised the government we will always be able to do our best to provide for the health of the country. The theme of the two days conference was Non-Communicable Diseases and COVID-19.

Permanent secretary for Health and Medical Services, Dr James Fong was the chief guest at the event. The conference ends today. |
