THE Fiji Bus Operators Association (FBOA) has welcomed the appointment of Samuel Simpson as the CEO of the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

In a statement, FBOA general secretary Rohit Latchan congratulated Mr Simpson and noted the LTA’s important role as the bus industry’s regulator.

“We are optimistic about working with Mr Simpson. His leadership background in bus industry operations internationally is encouraging for the industry in Fiji,” Mr Latchan said.

“Mr Simpson joins the Land Transport Authority at a time when the bus industry and road transport in Fiji are undergoing massive changes, but also threats to business survival.

“We look forward to working with Mr Simpson to find ways to ensure the continued modernisation and sustainability of the bus industry in Fiji.”

The LTA announced Mr Simpson’s appointment last Friday.

The authority had been without a CEO for 12 months.

Mr Simpson has over 32 years of experience in the transport industry, including nearly 25 years experience in the general manager and director levels.
