Manmeet Kaur says while Fijian families will gather to celebrate Christmas this weekend, she will be thinking of her late husband, Ramesh Kumar.

He was the third Fijian to succumb to COVID-19 and the first fatality linked to a local transmission.

“When my husband passed away, my life came to a standstill and I still remember him every single day,” she said.

Ms Kaur said her husband was a very likeable person and was loved and respected by many.

“All I have is the good memories we shared, especially during festivals.

“I am overcome with emotion during this time as he was always there for me and my daughter.”

The Lovu Seaside, Lautoka, resident said seven months after his passing, she was slowly moving on with her life but he would never be erased from her memory.

“I miss his presence. He was a very hardworking man who always made sure his family’s needs and wants were taken care of.”
