Father and son deny corruption charges

A FATHER and son have pleaded not guilty to corruption-related offences before Lautoka Magistrate Rangajeeva Wimalasena.

Former Ministry of Health executive Ronald Ritesh Narayan pleaded not guilty to four counts of abuse of office and one count of obtaining a financial advantage.

Mr Narayan’s father who is the director of Brink Home Builders Sat Narayan pleaded not guilty to one count of obtaining a financial advantage.

It is alleged the two caused the tenders of the Ministry of Health to be awarded to Brink Home Builders on four occasions for project works in the Nukuilau Nursing Station, Bukuya Health Centre, Ba Mission Hospital and the Raiwaqa Health Centre.

It is alleged they obtained a financial advantage of $101,041.12 between September 2016 and October 2017.

Fiji Independent Commission Against corruption lawyer Francis Puleiwai informed the court that they wished to have the matter heard in the Magistrates Court.

The matter has been adjourned to January 11, 2019.
