National selectors will be watching the country’s fastest student swimmers at the National Schools Swimming Championships that will be held tomorrow and Saturday at Olympic Pool in Suva.
Their eyes will be set on the best swimmers for the Pacific Games.
A total of 315 swimmers from 27 primary schools and 244 swimmers from 20 secondary schools will compete at the event.
Fifteen primary schools and 10 high schools are from the West. The remaining competitors are from Suva schools.
School swimming co-ordinator Joe Tuinamata said it would be a fun two-day event, with fair competition and good sportsmanship in the pool.
“We are happy to see most of the clubs and the schools are taking part this year,” he said.
“There will be a lot of competition, but all we want is the kids to have fun.
“The national selectors will be here, choosing the best swimmers for the Pacific Games, so we are hoping the students make it. He thanked sponsors, Pacific Energy, Fiji Gas, and Sun Insurance for making the event possible.
