A 36-YEAR-old farmer who pleaded guilty to a count each of sexual assault, indecently annoying a person and indecent assault has been sentenced to four years imprisonment.
Nausori Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne while sentencing the man this morning said with the prevalence of child sex abuse happening in this country, the courts had the duty to impose punishments that would adequately reflect the denunciation of the offending and deter others from engaging in similar offences.
The court heard the man indecently assaulted his seven-year-old niece sometime in October 2018.
A non-parole period of two years has been set.
