The huge turnout from the Suva Grammar School supporters and former students was perhaps a key factor in the school’s good performance in the Deans Trophy competition.

Out of the many SGS supporters was Vani Tudrau, a former student.

Tudrau and many other supporters made their way down from the Capital City around 4am yesterday to watch the semi-finals of the Vodafone Deans Competition at the Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

“I last attended SGS in 2001 and I came here today to watch my son play in the under-18 grade,” she said.

“My son, Inia Tudrau, will don the number four jersey for SGS,” the 38-year-old mum shared. As a proud mother of the 18 year-old, Vani has been attending all of the school’s past games in their quest to reach the finals of the competition.

“I have been following the team since day one and I am so proud of their achievements so far.”

She said Inia has been playing rugby since attending Veiuto Primary School, teh under-15 from SGS to the under-18.

“I have been supporting him since then. I will continue to do so as long as he plays rugby.”

She said the Vodafone Dean’s competition was something that was of high importance to SGS.

“It will mean the world if the boys win the under-18 title.”

Whether win or lose, Vani says she will be behind the team and will support them to the end.

Meanwhile, SGS has three teams that will play in the finals next Saturday at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

The under-16 side will face Queen Victoria School, while the U17 and U18 teams will face Marist Brothers High School.
