THE family of an 11-year-old Rakiraki boy whose left leg was crushed by a car hopes to receive compensation to cover for his medical expenses.

Neori Narovu underwent surgery to his leg and will now need to travel to the Lautoka Hospital for periodic reviews.

“I have been told to bring him to Lautoka and we are not sure how long it will take for his leg to heal,” said Nemia Naulumatua, his father.

Neori was on his way home from school last Monday when he was hit by a car and had open fracture wounds to his leg.

“The headteacher has given a report and we have a report from the police which we hope to lodge to ACCF (Accident Compensation Commission Fiji) to see if we can receive compensation.”

Neori was admitted at the Lautoka Hospital for five days after undergoing an operation.

Police had earlier said the driver of the car was interviewed under caution and released.
