A Rakiraki family who lost their house in a fire on October 27 are seeking assistance from the public to build a new home.

Praveen Reddy lost his $85,000 house in a fire at Volivoli, Rakiraki while he was away at a religious gathering.

The family is presently living in a makeshift shelter.

“I have built a shelter here beside my damaged house and I am slowly collecting materials to build a new house,” he said.

“I have received some timber and cement in donation but this isn’t enough.”

Mr Reddy, a fisherman, hoped people could donate more building materials.

“I intend to rebuild the two-bedroom house with a kitchen and sitting room.”

Anyone wishing to assist Mr Reddy could contact him on 8485666.
