The family and friends of Apete Naicori held a memorial service at Namakala Village, Waiqanake, today.

His father Reverend Niko Radiva organised the service at his home to farewell Mr Naicori who has been missing at sea for the past two weeks.

During the service, Mr Radiva asked for divine help of God to take care of his son’s young family.

“Please God, think of his family today, his wife, and his children during this difficult time,” the father said.

“Please God look after his children, though their dad has gone, let them know that you will be there to provide for the family.”

After the church service, Mr Naicori’s wife Leba Mere and their eldest daughter accompanied family members out to sea to say their final farewell.

Ms Mere was overcome with grief when wreaths were placed at the spot where her husband was last seen diving.
