POLICE have apprehended a 23-year-old suspect who was involved in a car-jacking in Lautoka last month.
Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho acknowledged the support and co-operation of the family of the suspect.
Eight men have been arrested so far in relation to the incident.
“A team of officers from Lautoka had approached the family of the 23-year-old suspect earlier on, requesting their assistance as he was wanted for arrest and had been evading police for over a month,” Brig-Gen Qiliho said.
“Family members immediately contacted the team of officers from Lautoka the moment the suspect made contact with them and as a result a peaceful arrest was made at the home of the suspect in Lami.”
Brig-Gen Qiliho said the suspect was arrested and escorted to the Lautoka Police Station.
He said families played an important role to nurture and guide loved ones from the wrong to the right path in life and away from a life on the wrong side of the law.
