ORGANISERS of a three-day golden jubilee carnival for Nawaicoba Public School say the response from the community has been “excellent”.
As the carnival draws to a close today, organisers are preparing for the final day of celebrations.
School manager Bala Dass said the community had come out in numbers to support the fete.
“There were about 600 people who attended the first day of celebrations. We are expecting more people to arrive on the final day tomorrow (today).”
Last night was Bollywood night, where students performed a range of items based on the theme. Tonight’s event will be attended by Education Minister Dr Mahendra Reddy.
The school was established in 1966 by a group of farmers from the iTaukei and Fijians of Indian descent community. Nawaicoba Public School today serves about 200 students.
