Ex-national football captain passes away

FORMER national football team captain and Nadi rep Inosi Tora has passed away.

This has been confirmed by Fiji Football Association President Rajesh Patel.

“It’s a huge loss. He had been a great footballer and an inspirational leader of his time.

“I convey my heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolence to the grieving family and I pray to the Almighty that his soul rests in peace,” said Patel.

The highlight of his career was in 1985 when he captained and scored a goal against New Castle in a match which Fiji won 3-0.

He started his career playing for Nadi in 1977 and helped Nadi win the first National Football League in 1978.

Tora joined national team in 1981 and played till 1988.

Fiji FA has confirmed that the legends of 1980’s and the Vodafone National football team will present their ‘reguregu’ on Wednesday at 5.30pm at his village in Namotomoto.
