Ex-cop charged for possession of illicit drugs

A FORMER police officer appeared at the Suva Magistrates court this afternoon charged for being found in possession of illicit drugs.

It is alleged that Joape Kotobalavu was found in possession of 5.7 grams of marijuana on October 18, 2018, in Suva.

Police prosecutor Constable Ronil Prasad informed the court that Mr Kotobalavu was allegedly found with the drugs at the cell block.

Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa granted Mr Kotobalavu bail in the sum of $500 with two sureties who have signed a surety bond of $300 each.

The case has been adjourned to December 3.
