Update: 6:01PM THE English proficiency examination for Fiji’s teacher graduates was set up for the Government to provide a benchmark data to help measure the effectiveness of professional development programs that will be carried out throughout the academic year.
At a press conference in Suva this afternoon, Attorney General and Minister for Education Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the assessments covered four round of categories: qualifications, experience, knowledge of content in teaching and learning strategies in English proficiency.
“The results from the assessment will better enable Government that all appointments are made on the basis of merit. The results also provide a clear picture of where we need to target investment in the professional development of our teaching staff,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.
