A FIJIAN with a lengthy criminal record has had his employment visa cancelled by the Australian Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs.

Uluibau Dauvou, 25, arrived in Australia in 2011 to work but ended up being a frequent criminal offender and was convicted for five offences between 2013-2018.

He appealed the minister’s decision to revoke his visa with the Administrative Appeals Tribunal of Australia.

On January 31, Tribunal Theodore Tavoularis upheld the minister’s decision.

The Tribunal noted Dauvou had two children in Fiji.

“It can thus be fairly said that his removal to Fiji would facilitate the re-establishment of his contact with those two children which could not, in any meaningful way, be regarded as an impediment to his removal,” Mr Tavoularis said.
