Emosi tops sprint battle

RATU Navula sprinter Emosi Taginamakadre was crowned the fastest athlete in the Coca-Cola Nadi Athletics Zone winning the blue ribbon at Lautoka’s Churchill Park yesterday.
The 20-year-old Baravi lad from Nadroga clocked 11.37sec, outpacing his fellow competitors to win the final.
Inspired after his win, Taginamakadre said his next mission was to upset the big names in the business during the Coca-Cola Games.
He said he would do his best and to improve on his time during training and to be in top shape in his quest to win the much anticipated blue ribbon event.
“Firstly I am happy to win today and thank my teachers for supporting me throughout my training,” said Taginamakadre.
“I did not participate in the event last year but I finished fourth at last year’s 200m in Suva.
“My aim for this year is to stamp my mark in the race and to try my best and upset some of the big names.”
Meanwhile, Merewai Linda Rabete won the senior girls 100m final with a time of 13.73secs.
The Nadi Muslim College student said she was happy with her performance and her goal was to maintain the consistency during the Coke Games.
