Elderly man is the country’s latest road fatality

AN elderly man is the latest road death victim after he was allegedly hit by a vehicle last night in Varavu, Ba.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the victim was alleged to have suddenly crossed the road when he was hit by the vehicle driven by man in his 40s who was travelling towards Ba.
She said the victim who was yet to be identified is Fijian of Indian descent, slim built and is believed to be between 50 to 60 years of age.
Police are appealing to members of the public who may have information that could identify the victim to call their nearest police station or the Divisional Traffic Officer Western on 9905674.
The national road death toll currently stands at 52 compared to 47 for the same period last year.
