ENERGY Fiji Ltd’s (EFL) subsidised customers will now have to pay only 9 per cent VAT on their electricity. As per the COVID-19 Response Budget announced on Thursday, EFL will now fully match Government’s existing 50 per cent subsidy on the first 100 units of electricity usage for all of its subsidised customers.

This means that 100 per cent of electricity costs up to the first 100 units will be covered by EFL and Government.

Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said all subsidised EFL customers would be given up to one month to make their electricity payments.
