IT’S that time of the year once again when love is supposedly in the air.

Whatever that means for you!

Mother-nature is surely not going to be bothered by that fact though.

However you plan to spend today, and whether you are brimming with emotions, with a touch of love thrown in perhaps, it is an opportune time to get our bearings.

Today is when many people are supposed to be inspired by a myriad of emotions to do something extra special for a loved one.

It is when love overwhelms people and they embrace that very special emotional response.

It is a feeling that is supposed to inspire hope and inch out all the trimmings of joy in a couple, and for many people, nurture a sense of appreciation of one another.

Love is something to be celebrated.

Should it really only be restricted to lovers though? Or couples?

Surely love transcends every demarcation line.

Well that is expected anyway!

We should consider ourselves fortunate that we live in a multiracial country.

Maybe we should see Valentine’s Day as a means to nurture an appreciation of others, love being the key word here.

Perhaps when we cast aside every imaginary demarcation line and embrace that very special word in its entirety, we may get an overwhelming sense of purpose and discover the true value of this special word.

But let us not forget though, that as we go about our day, and in whatever form it should pan out, we should be reminded that there are people among us who may have not experienced love for various reasons.

Perhaps we should stretch that experience across to embrace others who need love right now.

After all, shouldn’t love be spread? So in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, let us love one another.

As you go about your plans for today with your loved one, perhaps we shouldn’t get too overwhelmed and become complacent, and let’s extend that love.

Love life, value your loved ones, love your neighbour, embrace joy and happiness as much as possible, and live life to the brim.

Love should be celebrated every day.
