Eat sensibly: Dr Tukana

Update: 11:00AM THERE is a need for Fijians to eat sensibily in order to reduce and control cases of diabetes in Fiji.

Speaking at the Ministry of Health’s workshop on media and diabetes advocacy, national advisor for NCD and wellness Dr Isimeli Tukana said there was no shortage of food in Fiji but people had to learn to eat.

Dr Tukana said the media played an important part in raising awareness on the dangers of an unhealthy lifestyle.

According to Dr Tukana, the media can influence and inform people about making healthy choices when it comes to choosing the right kind of food.

He said diabetes was a controllable disease and the media could help by teaching people how to eat.

The workshop is being held at the Holiday Inn in Suva.
