A 3.20 magnitude inland earthquake occurred at 8.05am today in Colo-i-Suva.
Members of the public took to social media this morning to post their experience from areas in Suva and surrounding areas, as well as asking questions having felt the tremor that only lasted seconds.
According to the Seismology Unit of Fiji’s Mineral Resources department, the earthquake was a “felt event”, and it occurred at a shallow depth of 1km, and posed no tsunami threat to the region.
The department said the earthquake was felt within the Suva- Nausori corridor.
The seismic activity was reported 1km North NorthEast from Colo-i-Suva village, 8km West SouthWest from Nausori town, and 11km North-NorthEast from Suva.
