Fees for new or renewal of standard e-passports will be $200

THE launch of the e-Passport today shows how Fiji is taking the next step to a sweeping digital government transformation, says Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

He made the said comment this morning  during the launch of the e-passports at the Immigration Office in Suva.

“With today’s e-Passport launch, we are taking the next step to a sweeping digital government transformation that will touch all corners of Fijian society, securing our borders, uplifting our economy and bettering the lives of our people along the way,” Mr Bainimarama said.

Meanwhile, the Director of Immigration Nemani Vuniwaqa also announced that the  fees for new or renewal of standard ordinary  e-passports will be $200.

Mr Vuniwaqa said the cost of ordinary processing of lost, stolen or damaged and valid e-passports would be $400.

He also outlined that the fees for the urgent processing of new or renewal of standard e-passports will be $275 while the fees for ordinary processing of emergency passports will also be $275.

Mr Vuniwaqa also stated that the urgent processing of new or renewal of passports in the weekend or public holidays will be $608, ordinary processing of while urgent processing of lost, stolen, damaged and valid passports will be $520.

He stressed that the department had worked out the cost of the service when it outlined the fees of the e-passports.

“It is an increase due to the fact that we considered the service that has been provided, the new improvements, the advancements in the document and the validity which is 10 years (all books) and there are 64 pages,” he said.
